Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen on the GI Unit at St Thomas Hospital for a Band 3 Senior Nursing Assistant role.

We have an established team of highly skilled, patient focused and friendly multidisciplinary professionals. Our ethos is about mutual support and shared achievement, developing our staff and services to provide exemplary levels of care to our patients.

Carrying out assigned tasks as part of clinical team in support of registered nurses and to undertake some aspects of care provision without direct supervision.

Organising daily running of the area and liaising with service users. Ensuring the safety and well being of services users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person-centred care principles.

Main duties of the job

We are a friendly, diverse and dynamic team in which to be part of. We promote best practice and clinical excellence and you can become part of this. The GI unit is a 56 bedded tertiary referral unit, consisting of both Page and Northumberland wards caring for complex and challenging surgical patients from a wide geographical area with a range of Gastro intestinal conditions.

We are looking to employ a hardworking, self-motivated individual preferably with extended skills andknowledge such as venepuncture and cannulation, basic wound care and ability to complete theadmission assessments.

This role will allow you to develop and gain a wide range of additional clinical skills which will enhance your own personal development whist contributing to the high standard of care expected on the GI unit.

You will be expected to work with the wider multi-disciplinary team and support junior colleagues such as nursing assistants and student nurses
