A great opportunity has opened up for a Band 6 Clinical Research Midwife to join our successful research delivery team. They will be an integral member of the Reproductive Health & Childbirth Research Team, working on a portfolio of studies, involved in the successful set up and running of ongoing clinical research studies and trials.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Midwife to support a portfolio of research studies in our busy unit.The post holder will be involved in ensuring that all research undertaken within the department safeguards the well being of patients and is conducted according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004, Research Governance Framework and Amended Regulations 2006. The post holder will be based within Reproductive Health & Childbirth and may therefore work with different clinical teams to support studies and trials within RH&C. This is an excellent opportunity to enable the individual to gain a wide range of skills and experience within the clinical research environment. You will be employed by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, working closely with our academic partners at King's College London. You will have responsibility for screening patients for recruitment, randomising patients into studies, ensuring the patient pathway in the trials is completed, liaising with other centres, completing electronic and paper CRFs and provide interim trial reports in conjunction with Principal Investigators (PIs). Duties will also include providing support to patients who have been, or have the potential to be, recruited into the trials.

Our team consists of research nurses, midwives and clinical research practitioners all working on a wide range of clinical research studies and trials on Reproductive Health & Childbirth portfolio.

We are very fortunate to also be closely linked with the King's College London Department of Women and Children's Health and a member of the King's Health Partners.

The NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) supports patients, the public and health and care organisations across England to participate in high-quality research, thereby advancing knowledge and improving care. The CRN supports research being delivered through30 specialty therapy areasand 15Local Clinical Research Networks. These provide a network of research expertise and clinical leadership to deliver research studies on the NIHR CRNPortfolio of studies.

From April 2024, the CRN will transition to a new organisation, the NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN).

The NIHR RDN is being established to support the delivery of high quality research that enables the best care for our population. The new organisation will build on the success of the CRN to support the country's world-class research system to deliver for the future.

Being embedded within the LCRN and having the close working partnership with King's College London and the academic links gives us a unique position and enables us to be at the forefront of clinical research within the field of Reproductive Health and Childbirth.
