Job summary
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist wishing to develop their digital technology and clinical skills in paediatrics.
As a key member of the paediatric multidisciplinary team, you will gain experience in paediatric intensive care, paediatric congenital heart disease, paediatric cardiorespiratory surgery and paediatric respiratory medicine including cystic fibrosis and asthma.
As part of the digital innovation team, you will use specialist clinical knowledge gained to support the wider pharmacy directorate in optimising and maximising benefit from digital pharmacy systems including EPIC, Omnicell and SmartPumps.
This role would suit individuals with a keen interest in digital innovation and paediatric cardio-respiratory medicine and includes opportunities to undertake the non-medical prescribing course. The department is committed to the development of its staff.
Main duties of the job
This is a split role which includes a Paediatric clinical commitment & a innovative role within the Digital Pharmacy team.
To support the paediatric pharmacy team and the digital innovation teams as an expert digital champion to spearhead the optimisation of EPIC electronic health record and other digital innovation projects in paediatrics, such as Guardrails on smart pumps, using a range of pharmaceutical and information technology (IT) skills and expertise.
Provide a safe, efficient and high-quality clinical pharmacy service to paediatric inpatients and outpatients by supporting a seven day a week clinical service at the Royal Brompton Hospital including Saturdays and Bank Holidays.
Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and committees.
Deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective use of medicines within Paediatrics, by the provision of education and training, procedures, protocols, and medicines usage information.
Assist in both the management of, and proactively improving the use of digital pharmacy systems, in line with Digital Pharmacy strategy.
Monitor and audit medicines related risk in line with local and national guidelines and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in reducing and managing such risk.

The paediatric service at the Royal Brompton Hospital is a tertiary referral centre for children with cardio-respiratory disease and comprises of the subspecialties: Respiratory Medicine (including cystic fibrosis), Cardiology, and Paediatric Intensive Care. Pharmacy is an integral member of the strong multidisciplinary team that supports these services.
