Job summary

The Essentia Engineering Department is recruiting Engineering Maintenance Assistants for its team of engineers.

You will be responsible for effective maintenance of the Trust's technical infrastructure. Through personal leadership, commitment and practice you will secure the highest professional standards of engineering standards throughout the Trust. The post holders will be expected to work closely with the engineering teams, Capital development and environment teams.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Engineering Department with electrical, mechanical or plumbing trades, under the supervision of team managers.

Assisting the flushing team as and when required under the supervision of team managers.You will also undertake unsupervised routine maintenance, minor repair work and be required to lift and move, in line with manual handling techniques.The post holders will be flexible, team players, and be responsive to the needs of the Organisation.

In support of the Team Leader/Manager to ensure the day to day efficient and safe working of allengineering plant on site, to work within the Engineering Departments Health & Safety policies andprotocols, ensuring that working practises comply with these in both spirit and practise.To carry out day to day maintenance of engineering plant as directed by Team Managers on adaily basis .To attend to plant breakdowns, carry out repairs and restore the units to service asquickly and efficiently as possible. With support to be able to fault find on electric motors and theirassociated control gear. To activate changeover of plant and or its safe isolation in the event of amalfunction or breakdown. Experience in fault finding and installation on building mechanicalservices Able to carry out minor mechanical work such as connection/disconnection of belt drives,pulley and direct drive couplings. To maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment and toinstruct others on the above features and other aspects of the work. To efficiently diagnose andrepair faults in mechanical installations, plant and equipment, to deal with new situations as theyarise and to pass on knowledge to others.To be able to work overtime at short notice if available to do so, and depending on the needs of theTrust.

  • Recognised GCSE in craft subjects (metal work, fabrication engineering, and woodwork) or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Relevant experience in a similar industry.
  • Commitment to learn new working methods

  • Experience of working within a broad range of occupational guidelines

Desirable

  • Has received appropriate formal training and developed a knowledge of all types of engineering systems.
