Job summary
This is a unique opportunity for Less-Than-Full-Time doctors with competencies in data science / engineering, to develop their technical skills within a high-profile national data programme, working as part of a skilled technical team to deliver real-world pipelines and products.
The post-holder will participate in clinically applied data, Machine Learning (ML) and ML Operations (MLOps) implementation, and analytics engineering activities, focused on delivery of pipelines and products to improve health outcomes for the population of London, and to improve the utility and availability of Real-World Data across the region to support life sciences work. Some activities may result in research and academic publications, though this is not a primary objective.
Within this role, you will co-design project deliverables. Our mode of working is focused on product design and delivery (rather than providing an on-demand/ticketed service to stakeholders). Post-holders must possess initiative and must be comfortable working on multiple projects and tight delivery timelines.
You will be supported by an excellent team which contains scientists, engineers, and other clinicians, and you will be supported by a personal development plan to improve technical competencies.
The candidate must have completed at least one year of practice by the time of role start.
Main duties of the job
There are two types of role available, that align to different technical competencies:
Senior Clinical Data Scientist - Working across population health centres in London, in Azure/Snowflake environments, to build reproducible and end-to-end pipelines for population health data science and machine learning, including implementation of industry standard MLOps (Machine Learning Operations) practices. The post-holder will also be expected to offer clinical support to the design of pathways and monitoring of impacts from any ML intervention. This post may benefit those with an interest in population health and responsible ML deployment.
Senior Clinical Analytics Engineer - Working within Hospital Trusts to extract, load, and standardise data to common data model and OMOP specfiications, including working with data through CogStack and language AI, with a focus on surfacing quality metrics and cohort insights. Post-holders will be encouraged to build applications and products to support analytics and research use-cases. These may include dashboards and analytics products for cohort discovery and trial recruitment/feasibility within hospitals, that can be scaled across the London region. This post may benefit those with an interest in Real-World Data and life sciences.
