Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Staff Nurse for Daycase on Rose Ward at Royal Brompton Hospital. Daycase is fast paced unit, which provides a high standard of care for patients with a cardiac and respiratory conditions. The Royal Brompton is part of the Guys and St Thomas Clinical Group and is known throughout the world for its expertise and, research and high standard of care.
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning and provision of specialist nursing advice and carrying out specialist nursing procedures. You will be working with the wider MDT in supporting urgent clinical reviews for children along with specialist procedures.
As a band 6 paediatric nurse you will have the opportunity to develop all your leadership and clinical skills in a busy, positive, and supportive day case environment, as well as focusing on your career options with the support of your ward managers, clinical educators, and Matron. We would also consider a senior Band 5 nurse with appropriate experience for this post with the aim to support through a Band 5 - Band 6 development pathway.

Main duties of the job
As part of this role, you will be a clinical role model and advocate for your patients. You will work closely with the senior nursing team to continue to move the service forward and implement improvements in practice to ensure the best experience and outcomes for our patients and their families.
The post holder will provide clinical supervision to other staff, students and may undertake research, and lead clinical audits in their own specialist area.

-Independently manage the day case unit within the ward area whilst working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised and personalised direct patient care

-Assist the Sister/Charge nurse to ensure that all students and newly appointed staff have identified mentors/preceptors.
-Contribute and assist the Sister/Charge Nurse to foster a learning environment within the clinical area.
-Promote and undertake nursing research updating own knowledge to promote excellence in clinical practice.
