The Guys and St Thomas' Pain Management and Neuromodulation Centre is internationally recognised as a centre of clinical and academic excellence in the management of chronic pain.

We have a long history of providing traditional chronic pain management treatments such as day case procedures and outpatient treatments

We've also established world prominence in the fields of spinal cord stimulation and other neuromodulation techniques, as well as in addressing the psychological, physical and social impacts of chronic pain with our pain management programmes. This is delivered through the INPUT pain management department.

The centre collaborates closely with spinal surgeons in the assessment and treatment of spinal pains, and similarly provides highly specialised, multidisciplinary assessments for conditions including chronic headache, facial pain and pelvic pain.

We are offering a Clinical Fellowship in Pain Management at Guys & St Thomas Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

An advanced training post working under supervision of the consultants in the pain clinics within the Guys and St Thomas trust.

The post holder will work jointly with the 11 clinical consultants and multidisciplinary allied professionals evaluating and treating patients, taking more responsibility as their tenure in the post progressed.

2. Key Relationships

The post holder will have contact and supervision from our 11 consultants, Dr Smith, Dr Palmisani, Dr Pang, Dr Liu, Dr Kothari, Dr Hasnie, Dr Royds, Dr Azzopardi, Dr Al-Kaisy, Dr Lambru and Dr Ward. As well as support from a wide range of clinical and managerial staff, administrative and clerical support staff.

Qualifications

Essential

• FRCA
• Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice
• Post Graduate Qualification - Anesthsiest Equivalent

Desirable

• Post Qualification Training in Pain Medicine

• Able to prioritise clinical needs by applying sound medical knowledge
• Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
• Evidence of contribution to patient safety and risk management
• Empathy, understanding, listening skills, patience and ability to work co-operatively with others
• Able to change and adapt, respond to changing circumstances to cope with setbacks or pressures.

Desirable

• Evidence of presentations at national and/or international meetings
• Clinical Audit

Clinical Experience

Essential

• Basic Pain Medicine Training
• Specialist Registrar Training

Desirable

• Additional Fellowships in specialist areas
