Job summary
Applications are invited for a Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist with subspecialty expertise in specialist echocardiography to join the Paediatric Cardiology Service within Evelina London Women's & Children's Clinical Group. This is a post based at the Evelina London, but with a strong cross site role, participating in the delivery of specialist echocardiography services on the Royal Brompton Site. It is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by the Trust, either on an on-going or temporary basis according to the demands of the service.
Main duties of the job
This post is full time (10 programmed activities) with the option for additional programmed activities available.
This role will immerse the successful applicant fully within the paediatric cardiology team at both Evelina London and Royal Brompton by undertaking cover of the inpatient service, outpatient clinics and support of clinics throughout the wider paediatric congenital heart network. This role involves subspecialty congenital echocardiography including provision of elective sedated and transoesophageal echo lists, procedural imaging in the cardiac catheter laboratory and cardiac theatres, and the support of specialist outpatient echo clinics. There will also be an expectation to cover advanced echocardiography for inpatients in all areas including 3d assessment of complex cardiac anatomy and advanced functional imaging
The successful candidate will be on call for general paediatric cardiology.
The post-holder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Paediatric Cardiology Services sit within the Children's Cardio-Respiratory and Intensive Care (CRIC) directorate and are a joint service across Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals and Evelina London Children's Hospital. As such it is a requirement of your employment that the post-holder is prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by the Trust, either on an on-going or temporary basis according to the demands of the service.
The Paediatric Cardiology Services are committed to meeting the standards set out by NHS England for the provision of congenital cardiac care for all age groups. There are 32 substantive consultant cardiologists within the service covering a range of sub-specialist areas including fetal cardiology, cardiac imaging, electrophysiology and interventional cardiology. Our cardiac surgeons perform the full range of congenital heart surgery.
The Paediatric Cardiology Services have access to a full range of services across all age groups including fetal, neonatal and adult facilities at St Thomas' and also across the North West London Hospital Alliance. There is a close working relationship with academic partners from Kings College London and Imperial College London, with some academic consultants having joint NHS and University appointments and supervising research fellows and their projects.

The post holder will be expected to actively participate in the research, education, and administrative responsibilities of the paediatric department, as well as generally support the Trust and its Directorate of Childrens services.

- GMC Registration and a Licence to Practise
- MRCP or MRCPCH or equivalent
- Has, or is eligible for GMC Specialist Registration in Paediatrics or Paediatric Cardiology

- Higher Degree - either completed or currently enrolled in a higher degree program
Clinical Experience and skills:

- At least 4 years' experience working in a paediatric cardiac surgical centre at registrar level or higher.
