Job summary

We currently have vacancies in our Elective orthopaedic Ward within our Surgery Directorate for full time Band 5 registered nurses. The successful candidate will have an amazing opportunity to work alongside some of the most experienced and innovative clinicians in the field of orthopaedic.

Queen and Sarah Ward are elective orthopaedic ward, that provide care for patient both preoperative and post operative to provide enhance recovery. Sarah ward also provide the opportunity to learn and develop skill providing care for Oncology and haematology patients.

Main duties of the job

The post requires applicant to be able to work under pressure, demonstrate excellent clinical nursing and communication skills, willingness to learn and develop new skills and strive to provide the optimum care for patients and their relatives.

  • Act as a role model, demonstrating highly specialist skilled practice thatis underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practiceexperience.
  • Facilitate and guide the practice based learning to ensure that it is fit forpurpose for all students.
  • Monitoring and assessing the newly qualified staff toensure that practitioner meets the planneddevelopmental outcomes to practice safely andeffectively.
  • Contribute to the development of training programmes for improvingthe practice and competence of all staff groups.
  • Facilitate and deliver training to universal children services staff andother professionals internally and externally, as relevant.
  • Carry out learning needs assessments to plan appropriate training tobe delivered through the Evelina Practice Development hub andevaluate all training.
  • Work in collaboration with the GSTT Education, Training &Development department, and the service managers to ensureappropriate training is commissioned for the workforce. Holding thecentral database for commissioning of courses.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate a range of teaching and learningprogrammes and opportunities to meet the learning outcomes andneeds of the staff.
  • Undertake relevant train-the-trainer training (as agreed by the HON)in order to provide in-house training for the workforce.
