Job summary
The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a part-time (5 PA) fixed-term Locum Consultant specialising in neuro-ophthalmology and/or uveitis, to join a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward-thinking team. The department is currently involved in many exciting initiatives and we are looking for an individual with appropriate skills to complement the existing Medical Eye Unit team and help keep the service in the forefront of clinical and academic excellence.The department offers a wide range of sub specialty ophthalmic services to patients. The new consultant will help run and develop these services and have particular responsibility for developing the Medical Eye Unit (Neuro-ophthalmology & Uveitis/Sclerites) service. They will be expected to take an active role in audit and governance and to participate in the teaching programs of the department. This is an excellent opportunity to join a first-class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment.
Main duties of the job
This is a part time (5 PA's) consultant post. The post holder will be part of the Medical Eye Unit at St Thomas' hospital. The post holder will participate in the diagnosis and management of patients in outpatients, including patients currently admitted under the care of other medical or surgical teams.
The post holder will be expected to take an active role along with the other sub speciality consultants in delivering and further developing the service. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the service to ensure the Trust continues to deliver excellent ophthalmic care well into the future.
