Pelvic floor unit information
The Pelvic Floor Unit is a well-established, but continually developing high profile service. The primary aim of the multi-disciplinary team is to improve the symptoms, coping strategies and quality of life for patients with Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. We achieve this through multidisciplinary intervention.
The team provides care for patients with faecal incontinence and constipation/evacuatory disorders. We aim to establish the exact cause of their dysfunction by listening to and examining our patients/ utilising functional investigations and blood tests to confirm our diagnosis and then offering a combination of conservative management which may include Biofeedback, Posterior Tibial Nerve Stimulation or Rectal Irrigation. Patients may also be offered surgical interventions such as Sacral Nerve Stimulation, Ventral Mesh Rectopexy or Sphincter repair. The team is also actively involved in national research projects and projects within the unit.

An opportunity has arisen at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS trust for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is ready to further develop and consolidate their knowledge and skills within the Pelvic Floor Speciality. You will carry a mixed caseload of pelvic floor dysfunction and will be working in the Pelvic floor unit.
This role provides a great opportunity to be responsible for the care of patients across the pelvic health speciality. You will have opportunity to treat patients from the Colorectal, Uro-gynaecology, Urology, Psychosexual medicine for both men and women. You will work closely with the MDT within Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS trust across all referring disciplines.
You will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills as it is an essential skill to work effectively within the pelvic floor multidisciplinary team.
