Experienced Staff Nurse in the Emergency Department (A&E)
St Thomas' Emergency Department is situated on the South Bank of the Thames in Central London. It serves a large and diverse population, average yearly attendances being 140,000. The department is a level 2 trauma unit and incorporates an Urgent Care Centre. The department has completed a £20 million rebuild project. This has created one large emergency floor including the ED, an Acute Admission Ward, a Multi Specialty Assessment Unit, a separate Paediatric ED, a Psychiatric Liaison Team and a dedicated Practice Development Team.
The department maintained an Outstanding Rating by the CQC in 2021. We have an excellent development programme with protected teaching time and a dedicated Practice Development team. We also have links with King's College London for those wishing to further their academic qualifications. Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for assessment of care needs of patients,planning programmes of care, implementation and evaluation of theseprogrammes without direct supervision.
At times they will have management responsibility for being in-charge of the ward and supervising junior members of staff. The post holder will be a key member in relation to the development of practice on the ward.
They will be working independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional actions.
Ensuring the safety and well being of services users, and alwaysworking in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through theadoption of person centered care principles.
