Practice Development Nurse - Adult Clinical Research Facility

Do you have a passion for teaching, assessing and developing staff and students?

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, dynamic and clinically experienced nurse to join the GSTT Adult Clinical Research Facility. This pivotal post will lead on the delivery of education and training to a team of research professionals within the CRF. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Band 6 or an established Band 7 as a Practice Development Nurse (PDN) to support with an extensive portfolio of NIHR non-commercial and commercial studies.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a level of enthusiasm and commitment necessary to develop the staff into a high functioning team that can carry out their individual research roles to the highest possible standards and adhering to Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

Main duties of the job

The PDN will support our research workforce in the successful delivery of a large portfolio of clinical trials. The successful candidate will possess an excellent range of clinical skills, a broad range of clinical experience, and be able to demonstrate knowledge of clinical and research governance and experience of supporting clinical research. As a skilled communicator, the successful candidate must also possess excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, acting as an ambassador for promoting evidence based practice and research utilisation. The PDN will work with the CRF Research Matron and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive education package for all members of the team, regularly working in research clinics alongside staff.

The National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Facility (CRF) for Experimental Medicine at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust provides state of the art facilities and world-leading expertise to support the NHS, universities and industry in conducting ground breaking experimental medicine studies.

The CRF is comprised of four units located at both our sites

- Guy's CRF incorporating our phase I unit

- St Thomas' CRF with a unit focus on experimental and cardiometabolic research

- Imaging core built around patient pathways across St Thomas' Hospital

- Children's CRF located within Evelina London Children's Hospital

  • NMC Registered nurse
  • Teaching qualification or equivalent experience

Desirable

Previous Experience
