We are very excited to be advertising a newly established role of Principal Gastroenterology Dietitian - South East London (SEL) Transformation. The position is fixed term full time for 11 months to lead a SEL Transformation Project.
The SEL Dietetics Clinical Steering Group has developed an IBS core offer designed to standardise good practice and increase the numbers seen, thus offering more support to primary care. This will be achieved through a SEL-wide hub and spoke model, which keeps the benefits of local services, while getting more efficiency from SEL wide coordination of key service processes. Through this newly established post Guy's and St Thomas' (hub) will lead on adopting the transformation work across SEL services (spokes).
You will be working with a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking department who provide a patient centered approach to care. Main duties of the job
- Establish and lead an IBS/DGBI clinical reference group across SEL
- Chair the group and sustain stakeholder engagement to support service development, business planning and digital transformation.
- Implement a Hub & Spoke operational model and pilot new dietetic pathways across South East London, including First Contact Practitioner Dietetic roles, and co-designing services with patients
About us
The Nutrition and Dietetic (N&D) Department is the largest in the country made up of over 150 staff including dietitians, dietetics assistants, nutrition nurses, psychologists and administrative staff. This is a highly complex service, delivering highly specialised Dietetics as part of clinical services across the Trust, and into the Community, including providing professional guidance for our catering services and ensuring our compliance with Nutrition Standards for the Trust.
We have considerable expertise within the department with members representing the profession on a number of regional and national groups as well as contributing to both local and national guidance and research.

Essential
- Degree in Dietetics or equivalent
- Evidence of specialist training and experience in dietary management of functional bowel disorders (e.g. FODMAPs)
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of further postgraduate study in functional bowel disorders
- Postgraduate training in cognitive behavioural therapy
Desirable
- Leadership or management related studies

- Previous experience at a senior level which must include at least 6 years' broad clinical experience and 3 years working in gastroenterology
- Ability to and experience of the evaluation of service provision against recognised standards or guidelines and to lead service improvements
- Experience of partnership working across organisational boundaries
- Detailed working knowledge of the IBS guidelines and standards
- Active participation in academic, professional or regional working parties for IBS (eg BDA Specialist Gastroenterology Group)
