Are you an experienced Band 6 Paediatric nurse? Are you experienced to a proficient level in paediatric cannulation? Are you interested in getting vascular access right for children? The Infection Prevention and Control department is seeking to recruit to the re-launched paediatric arm of the well established Vascular Access Service.
This is a new, exciting and challenging opportunity to join this well-established team as it increases it support in the delivery of specialised nursing care to children receiving IV therapy. The team will assist clinical staff in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care related to IV therapy and vascular access needs.

Main duties of the job
Clinically you will support patients with difficult access requiring your expertise. The successful candidate will be responsible for the early and appropriate assessment of children requiring vascular access devices for the administration of intravenous fluids and medication. An aspect of the role is placement of ultrasound guided peripheral cannulae. Post care management includes follow up, problem identification and documentation of complications and process improvement through data monitoring of both peripheral and central venous access devices.
You will assist the team leader in determining the need for and provision of appropriate training in relation to management of intravascular access devices to all members of the multidisciplinary team in the Evelina London Children's Hospital. Data capture is integral to the role through audit and surveillance to support and sustain quality improvement and assurance
You must ideally possess excellent cannulation skills in paediatrics. You must be energetic, motivated, assertive, and possess demonstrable leadership and management experience with highly developed communication and interpersonal abilities. You must be able to work autonomously, confident to work under your own initiative but also work well within a small but dynamic team.
