Job summary

An opportunity has become available for an experienced individual to join and work in collaboration with the team of Band 7 Sister/ Charge Nurse/ Principle ODP. The successful candidate will need to posses a wide-ranging clinical background and be able to demonstrate effective management skills. In this role, you will be responsible for providing support to the Guys Main Theatre (GMT) anaesthetic assistants. You will oversee various clinical and non-clinical responsibilities. GMT comprises of 14 operating theatres, carrying out a complex variety of surgical operations. Other outlying areas include IR, MRI, ACU and Dental. The clinical area also supports a surgical admissions area and post-operative recovery. The post holder will be working in a clinical and service development capacity to ensure the service to patients is planned, delivered, and evaluated in line with evidence-based practice. Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to help create and maintain a robust service whilst seamlessly incorporating other centre services. Main duties of the job

You will need to be proactive, self-motivated, have very strong interpersonal skills, and a vision for service improvement. You will be expected to actively support, coordinate and assist in the management and delivery of high-quality care to patients during the Peri-operative phase of their care.You will be expected to support Guys Main Theatres, Recovery and SAL in conjunction with the existing Band 7 team and work generically overseeing the anaesthetic assistant team. You will be joining an existing skilled senior team where you will contribute to the management of all areas.

  • Lead the ward/Department team and build successful links between key professionals to support and promote effective multi-disciplinary team working.
  • Manage the department nursing staff, ensuring the patients receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines.
