Job summary

We are excited to be advertising the role of an Assistant Service Manager to work within the Paediatric Plastic Surgery and Ophthalmology services within Evelina London. The post will be 37.5 hours a week based at St Thomas' hospital.

Our Paediatric Plastic Surgery service is one of the largest of its kind, seeing patients from south London and the south east England. We operate on over 1000 children and see over 4000 outpatients in our busy clinics each year.

Our Paediatric Ophthalmology treats children with conditions that affect vision and the eyes. We see children from Lambeth and Southwark, as well as offering specialist care for children from across the south east and further afield.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in the operational leadership of our Paediatric Plastic Surgery and Ophthalmology services. With line management responsibility for a team of A&C staff they will work closely with the clinical teams to ensure the delivery of key national targets in relation to the efficient delivery of high quality services. They will also be given the opportunity to take the lead on specific initiatives to modernise and transform services. We are looking for an individual with excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously.

  • Have significantly contributed to meeting operational objectives
  • Experience of delivering Administrative and Clerical Outpatient Services
  • Evidence of introducing and supporting change processes
  • Evidence of establishing, maintaining and consolidating effective working relationships with clinicians and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Evidence of positively influencing organisational culture
  • Track record of supporting the management of innovation and service improvements
