Job summary

The Royal Brompton Heart Valve bank supplies clinically suitable heart valves to cardiac centres at the Guy's and St Thomas' NHS FoundationTrust and nationally across the UK. The Heart valve Bank is Licensed by Human Tissue Authority to procure, process, test, store and distributecardiac tissue under Human Tissue Act 2004 and the Human tissue (Quality and safety for Human Application) Regulation 2007 as amended.A rare opportunity has arisen for a Tissue Bank Assistant to join a small dynamic team to provide comprehensive office and administrative supportto heart Valve Bank staff as well as basic procedures within Cleanroom following Good Manufacturing Practice.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to effectively manage and complete Heart Valve donor records by communicating with relevant healthcare staff within avariety of establishments including but not limited to hospitals within the Trust, National Health Service Blood and Transplant and GP offices torequest and collate necessary documents relating to Royal Brompton Heart valve donors. You will participate in departmental meetings and takeleading role in drafting agendas and minute taking. You will provide administrative support to office and limited practical support to laboratorytechnicians within Royal Brompton Heart Valve Bank. For office duties you will be working independently to organise your own workload within theconstraints of defined deadlines and changing priorities. You will be able to lift and carry items up to a weight of 12 Kg with and without the use ofmechanical aids. Within laboratories you will participate in primary stages of processing within the clean-rooms after a period of training. You willparticipate in various cleaning, validation and audit schedules and rotas within the department.
