Come and join our team of 30 podiatrists where you will have the opportunity to work across a very broad spectrum of podiatry specialisms. We work from several sites across both Southwark and Lambeth, the largest of which has 6 couches, so there's plenty of opportunities to work alongside our senior colleagues.
For those that want to develop their wound care skills further there are opportunities to rotate at our main hospital sites at Guy's and St Thomas' where we have very close links. Likewise, if MSK is a skill you would like to improve, there are opportunities for rotations here too as well as nail surgery and advanced therapies.
As well as our clinics, you would be undertaking two days of home visits per week. For this we provide a car, remote IT devices and flexible working hours to help make things easier for you.

Main duties of the job
As a specialist podiatrist there will be opportunities to work across a broad scope of podiatry practice with supervision and mentoring from senior colleagues as required. This role will require you to be able to work both autonomously and as part of a dynamic and forward thinking team. You will need to be an excellent communicator and to interact with the wider community based MDT to ensure optimal patient care is delivered.We have a large caseload of wound care patients so the ideal candidate will have some experience in this area. Although we can offer lots of support and opportunities to help you to develop further. In addition to our nine clinic locations patient care also takes place in patients' own homes and the role will include two days of home visits a week. This can be challenging but is also frequently rewarding and senior colleagues are available for remote advice if required.You will need to be enthusiastic, flexible and able to use strong clinical assessment and reasoning skills to provide first class patient care. As part of your role in working towards excellence, you will be given the opportunity to carry out and participate in audits and quality improvement projects, to improve the service and both immediate and future quality of patient's care.
We will offer you regular supervision with your line manager as well potential to line manage others to develop your leadership skills.
About us
We are a large community based service comprised of thirty podiatrists and two podiatry assistants who work across nine clinicalsites in the central London Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. We have a fantastic, diverse and friendly team and we work closely with those in the hospital based teams at Guy's and St Thomas'. The hospital sites offer multidisciplinary team wound care and review, musculoskeletal services including shock wave therapy and podiatric surgery. The podiatrists working in the community have the opportunity to rotate through the acute MDT clinics to further enhance their skills and experience.
We provide all our clinical staff with a 4G tablet for accessing our IT infrastructure from anywhere and you will have access to our fleet of pool cars for undertaking home visits so you will not be expected to use your own car.
We schedule regular education sessions where we can all come together to enhance our knowledge as a team and have quarterly team meetings alongside the hospital based team.

You will need to be responsible and accountable for the complex assessment, diagnosis and treatment of new and existing patients with a wide variety of Podiatric complaints. This includes diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, musculoskeletal disorders, vascular and neurological disorders, systemic diseases, chronic pathologies, emergency treatments, wound management, paediatrics, deformities, and nail and skin pathologies.
Undertaking Diabetic foot assessments and diabetic foot management and education.
- Working with challenging groups including those with mental health problems
- Management of foot ulcers
- To identify risk factors and to prioritise patients into risk categories
- To arrange emergency admission into hospital when indicated
- Providing emergency clinical and domiciliary care
To participate in department rotations through areas of clinical speciality, for example, Nail surgery, Acute MST rotation and both Guys and St Thomas Hospital sites and Biomechanics.
To provide care in a variety of settings often involving the ability to work alone and independently, and also with the Podiatry team. Such settings will include (but is not limited to):
- Community Health Centres
- Residential and Nursing Homes
- Patients Homes
To be able and willing to work in some areas with high levels of social deprivation.
The provision, organisation and evaluation of highly specialised Podiatric care plans tailored to patients medical needs with regular review and the ability to identify and co-ordinate further interventions.
Make referrals to other specialists from within the department and outside, facilitating safe and appropriate discharge where indicated.

To be responsible for the professional day-to-day coordination and management of patients caseloads and clinics. This will involve good communication with other podiatrists and administrative staff to maintain good working relationships and communication.
