Job description

Job responsibilities

This post is available from the beginning of March 2024 for a period of six months. The successful candidate will be exposed to a wide variety of neurological conditions both acute and chronic in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. The post will offer opportunities to develop skills in multidisciplinary management of childhood neurology and in the use and interpretation of neuro-imaging methods, and neurophysiological tests.

The broader Childrens Neurosciences Service runs a large number of specialist and multidisciplinary clinics, widening the clinical exposure for successful candidates. They include complex epilepsy, neuromuscular and peripheral neuropathy, neonatal neurology, fetal neurology, neuropathic bladder, movement therapy, neuro-ophthalmology, joint genetics clinic, spina bifida , neurofibromatosis, neurological dysphagia, neuro-haematology (held with KCH for sickle cell cerebral vasculopathy) and a scoliosis clinic.

The fellow post is a clinical appointment, but the department has a strong academic record, and development of a research interest will be encouraged.

As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends. Creating a world-leading Academic Health Sciences Centre.

Please contact Dr Daniel E Lumsden for further details of the available posts daniel.lumsden@gstt.nhs.uk.
