Job summary
This is an exciting new opportunity within the well established Integrated Respiratory Team (IRT) to support the expansion of the respiratory virtual wards across Lambeth and Southwark. As a member of the IRT, this role will provide a high standard of physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice for patients living with chronic respiratory disease. The post holder will provide operational and clinical leadership to the respiratory virtual ward and work alongside the inpatient team to facilitate COPD admission avoidance, early and supported discharge. They will also provide support to the wider IRT services asthma services, home oxygen services and the COPD care bundle across KHPs and the community.
Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Physiotherapist with proven clinical skills to join the Integrated Respiratory Team (IRT) at GSTFT. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in operational and clinical management in the IRT which is multi-professional and provides input to patients across the trust who are living with chronic respiratory conditions. The post is supported by a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist and Clinical Lead and is a member of the wider Band 7 and 8 respiratory in- and outpatient team.
There will be a focus in the role on leadership and development of the virtual ward service across Lambeth and Southwark including service evaluation and quality improvement.
You will have had experience at a senior level including acute and chronic respiratory care and evidence of an interest in developing further in this area. An excellent communicator you will demonstrate a desire to work creatively to bring about innovative service development within IRT services and and wider respiratory team. A strong commitment to training at undergraduate and post-graduate levels and an interest in research is desirable.
The respiratory physiotherapy service has a high profile within the Trust and currently provides a 7-day service, reflecting the physiotherapy department's commitment to meeting patient needs and delivering excellence. It is essential the post holder be able to contribute fully to on call out of hours services.
