Job summary
Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, are among the largest providers of heart and lung treatment in all age groups in the UK and Europe. We are looking to appoint a substantive Advanced Practitioner in Paediatric Echocardiography.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated, dynamic and experienced in the field of paediatric echocardiography with several years experience in a paediatric cardiology/cardiac surgery centre. Accreditation within the field is essential but equivalent skill and experience would be considered.
The successful candidate will become part of the paediatric echocardiography team however will have opportunities for continued professional development in related fields.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will participate in and have shared responsibility for the provision and day-to-day running of an efficient and effective paediatric echocardiography service. This includes, but is not limited to:

To perform techniques and procedures with level of qualification and experience as outlined in the person specification

To maintain databases used for both clinical and research work

To actively participate in research and audit projects undertaken in the department

To liaise with relevant management team to provide technical input in order to ensure the provision of suitable equipment required for echo services

To train junior cardiac physiology and medical staff in paediatric echocardiography

To assist in and also participate in the running of paediatric echocardiography courses including the production of audio-visual materials
About us
As one of the leading paediatric echocardiography services in the UK, we carry out more than 8,000 paediatric scans per year at our Chelsea site alone, including standard transthoracic echocardiograms, intra and perioperative trans-osophageal echocardiograms (ToE) and advanced echocardiography, including 3D imaging and speckle tracking. In addition, our fetal consultant team carry out approximately 2500 fetal scans within the trust site and at referring fetal medicine centres. We also support the Guy's and St Thomas' paediatric cardiac network consisting of many hospitals across the south-east.
