Job summary
This post offers an exciting opportunity to join our large Adult CF Centre as a Clinical Fellow. This is a unique opportunity to combine cutting edge diagnostic CFTR research with clinical outcomes and the important emerging field of CFTR-related disorders, as the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in our state-of-the-art 'Difficult CF Diagnosis' service. In addition, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to our highly successful Clinical Trials Team and experience all aspects of CF care, with its multi-disciplinary team approach, cross-cutting effectively with clinical research.
Main duties of the job
The main duty will be to develop clinical and research expertise in CF care and diagnostics by working with the CF/diagnostics teams. The post holder will be trained to become proficient in diagnostic techniques, such as nasal PD. They will attend weekly Difficult CF Diagnosis (DCFD) and CFTR-Related Disorders clinics, in addition to monthly nasal PD clinics.
If desired, they will also be able to attend paediatric clinics to gain CFSPID (CF screen positive inconclusive diagnosis) experience and further their CF knowledge. They will also attend monthly DCFD Consensus Meetings, which includes genetic expertise as well as CF clinicians, nurses and genetic counsellors.
To support this, they will also be involved with general CF clinics x1 per week. Alongside clinical duties and clinical trial activities, there will be ample opportunity and an expectation to develop research projects, write abstracts, papers, protocols, ethics submissions and develop guidelines. Further development into a higher degree (e.g. MD (Res)) could be considered.
