Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen a Band 4 MDT coordinators within Cardiology to support the service delivery. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and innovative individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across a multi-disciplinary team and be able to adapt to an evolving service in order to ensure the continuous delivery of high quality patient care.

The MDT Coordinators will work closely with a wide range of clinical and managerial staff, and will provide a high standard of administrative support. The post holder will ensure patients receive treatment as soon as possible and ensure national targets are met.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an MDT Coordinator in the Cardiovascular Directorate.

We are looking for a confident well-established individual who takes pride in their work and is a team player.You will be expected to pay meticulous attention to detail, be able to liaise with staff on all levels and meet deadlines.

  • The postholder will have responsibility for providing efficient, high quality secretarial support to consultants and clinical teams involved in the MDT meetings.
  • This will include ensuring that all daily MDT secretarial tasks are undertaken.
  • Assistance with the organisation of the MDT meetings and clinics workload
  • Communicating appointment and admission related information to patients/carers in a friendly and reassuring way.
  • Good organisational skills

The successful applicant will also need to demonstrate they are proficient in using Trust applications i.e. PIMS, EPR, PACs, MEDCON etc.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. To attend the multi disciplinary team (MDT) meetings. This may require being available for an early start/late finish or during lunchtimes.

2. To provide administrative support for MDT meetings. This includes producing and circulating lists of patients to be discussed.

3. To be responsible for organising meeting rooms and liaising with clinical and administrative staff across departments to develop MDT meeting lists.

4. Be responsible for organising the retrieval of previous x-rays, CT, angiogram and echocardiogram images from other organisation/hospitals, and to ensure they are stored on the MEDCON and PACs systems in time for MDT meetings.

5. To follow-up suggested imaging from MDMs meetings and ensure all relevant reports and requests form and other paperwork are available when required.

6. To ensure all x-rays films and reports are matched with original film packets / paperwork and ensure x-rays are despatched to their correct destinations.

7. Retrieving older PACs images from archive

8. To organise and maintain an efficient system for tracking and sorting correspondence relating to the MDTs/MDM meetings, ensuring the information is kept up to date.

9. Responsible for monitor waiting lists and reporting times to ensure they comply with set targets

10. To ensure that all information received and recorded accurately and dealt with and appropriate fed back to the appropriate persons.

11. The post holder may be required to carry out other duties in line with the grading of the post.

12. To deal with calls and enquiries related to the service, ensuring patients and visitors are communicated with in a sensitive manner and queries/concerns are dealt with promptly and efficiently, referring to senior support when appropriate.

13. To liaise with a wider range of multi-disciplinary staff both internally and externally to ensure the smooth running of the service.

14. To be able to work as part of a team or independently

15. Book virtual appointments on PIMs for patients that are to be discussed.

16. To type all clinical letters from audio dictation which may include those of a distressing or emotional nature, as well as other relevant correspondence and documents as required.

The heads of service will assess performance on a regular basis.The job description may be subject to change and if so this will take place in consultation with the post holder
