Job summary

Are you looking for an exciting challenge within the field of acute tertiary cardiology? We care a a range of patients including acute MI, heart failure and arrhythmia management. We are a 24/7 regional primary PCI and out of hospital cardiac arrest center for the south east of London and admit patients via a number of different pathways.

The coronary care team at GSTT have an exciting opportunity for full time registered nurse, idealy with a cardiology background, looking to enhance their knowledge and skills in this fast paced unit. We are comprised of six beds and care for a range of patients requiring level 1 & 2 care.

You will have the opportunity to develop level 2 skills such as:

  • Intra-aortic balloon pumping
  • Inotrope therapy
  • Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)
  • Invasive blood pressure monitoring
  • Arrhythmia management

You will work as part of a well supported small team that is part of the wider cardiovascular division at GSTT, we have a dedicated practice development team to support your education and practice.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for assessment of care needs of patients, planning programmes of care, implementation and evaluation of theseprogrammes without direct supervision. At times they will be responsible for supervising junior members of staff. The post holder will be a key member in relation to the development of practice on the ward. They will be working independently/autonomously and at times without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional actions. Ensuring the safety and well being of services users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centered care principles.
