An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in our multidisciplinary amputee and prosthetic rehabilitation team at the Regional Specialist Rehabilitation Centre at Bowley Close. You should have a genuine enthusiasm for amputee and prosthetic rehabilitation and a strong interest in self and team development, and can demonstrate the trust's core values in your work.
We are looking for a dynamic individual who ideally has already experienced working with lower limb amputees either in the acute and/or rehabilitation setting. Prosthetic rehabilitation experience, and experience working at a Band 6 level in any area is preferable, as well as completion of core Band 5 rotations.
The position is fixed term until end of June 2024 and is for 15hours (0.4WTE) over 2 days.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to:
- manage their own caseload as autonomous practitioners in the rehabilitation centre and community settings.
- maintain comprehensive records in accordance with local and trust policies.
- provide physiotherapy input to the multi-disciplinary clinics and work closely with other departments in the service.
- work as effective team members, communicating appropriately with counterpart B6 physiotherapist, patients, carers and professional team members as required.
- The two B6 post holders are expected to cover the service Mon-Fri 8.30-4.30.
- The post holder will be expected to arrange appropriate hand over to the team and to their line manager as will be part time.
- contribute to the supervision, teaching and development of junior physiotherapists and students
- contribute to the in-service training programme.
- be responsible for the day to day running of the physiotherapy service in the absence of the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and Band 7 physiotherapist.
- In this instance, support will be provided by the other lead clinicians and management staff.
- join the Saturday rota at the Amputee rehabilitation Unit (ARU) in Kennington, a specialist 12 bedded inpatient amputee unit, which provides 6 day a week therapy. (This will be on average 1 in 6 and is not pro-rata for part time staff.)
About us
Bowley Close Rehabilitation Centre is a regional specialist centre that provides an outpatient amputee and prosthetic rehabilitation service for upper and lower limb amputees of all ages. Additional services onsite include: regional wheelchair service, assistive technology, specialist counselling and orthotics.
The amputee and prosthetic rehabilitation team provide a service to a wide catchment area in South East London and beyond. The prosthetic service operates as a multi-disciplinary team and is headed up by the Clinical Lead and Head of community amputee services. The therapy team is led by Band 8a Physiotherapist and Band 8a Occupational Therapist, and supported by a Band 7 Physiotherapist.
