Job summary
In this critical post you will manage the enquiry answering service for GSTT and for our SLA partners. You will ensure we provide safe, effective, and responsive advice to our existing users and identify opportunities to grow our service. You will oversee the provision of training to relevant staff. You will identify and drive forwards new ways of engaging the workforce and innovative technology to achieve a highly efficient service.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role are to manage the Medicines Advice enquiry service for our patients and health care professionals. This will involve personally answering enquiries and supervising others. You will liaise with Directorate pharmacists to ensure we deliver an equitable service across the Trust.
You will use your teaching experience to ensure we have robust training in place to enable rotational staff to provide a safe and clinically excellent service.
You will have oversight of all QI/service development projects and research that the service undertakes to drive forwards Medicines Advice. You will be the line manager for a number of pharmacists within the team.

Guy's and St Thomas' Medicines Advice team is part of a large, vibrant service focussing on delivery of advice related to Medicines Effectiveness and Safety. We are a team of approximately 20 individuals. The Trust's Medicines Advice Service sits within the GSTT Pharmacy Department and alongside the national Specialist Pharmacy Service.
We aim to promote the safe, effective and economic use of medicines in patients, through active provision of accurate information and advice.
We provide clinical advice about medicines to a large number of health care professionals and patients. We support many trainee pharmacists and rotational pharmacists as they train in medicines advice skills.
