Job summary
To provide safe, efficient and supportive respiratory ambulatory care for patients with acute or chronic respiratory conditions such as sleep, COPD and Asthma.
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the medical team, to provide clinical support, advice and expertise to ensure that best practice is promoted and delivered in order to reduce the risk to patients.
To organise blood tests, x-rays and other appropriate investigations. Interpret the investigation results and make appropriate plan of care for future treatment and management, liaising with the respiratory medical team and patient GPs as required.
To support onward management of the patient through the most appropriate pathway and in discussion with the patient. Ensure appropriate referral to other members of the multidisciplinary team, including other consultant specialties and primary care.
About us
The post holder will be responsible and coordinate the care of respiratory patients ; primarily sleep apnoea, COPD and asthma, working closely with the Consultant team and the wider MDT. This will involve the assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment of these patients to an advanced level. Care and support will be provided for patients, carers and staff, both internally and in the local community services.
The postholder will support the MDT in promoting excellence in nursing care to maintain and improve respiratory clinical standards, providing strong and effective nurse leadership ensuring that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect, placing value on the diversity of the community served.
