Job summary

  • To support delivery of a suite of systems to ensure patients and the NHS get the best value from medicines and pharmacy by making prescribing and dispensing safer and more efficient, supporting the integration of pharmacy systems into the Trust and wider NHS as well as making the most of medicines data.

  • To assist in the safe and effective maintenance and operation of digital medicines systems, using a range of pharmaceutical and information technology (IT) skills and expertise.

  • To assist in the management and troubleshooting of other digital medicines systems, including automated dispensing cabinets (electronic drug cupboards) and to work towards achieving closed loop medicines administration (CLMA).

  • To assist in the management and troubleshooting of the pharmacy stock control system and other Pharmacy IT systems as required.

  • To play a major role in the continuous development of the Trust as a member of the Pharmacy Digital Innovation and Technology team and as a potential member of a range of Trust quality/process improvement project groups.

  • BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences/Service
  • GPhC Registration
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Significant experience working in a Hospital Pharmacy environment as a qualified Pharmacy Technician
  • Knowledge and experience of working within the NHS
  • Practical experience of using pharmacy computer systems, and knowledge of hospital systems such as PAS and EPR
  • Awareness of EPMA in Hospitals
  • Basic operational knowledge of computer hardware and relevant software
  • Good knowledge and use of MS office software including proficiency with word processing, spread sheet, and presentation software applications
