Job summary

The Oncology and Haematology Clinical Trials Team (OHCT) is seeking an enthusiastic Imaging and Pathology Coordinator for 12 months Maternity Cover to join our busy team based in Guy's Hospital in Central London.

The successful applicant for this post will work closely with the Set Up Specialist, OHCT team, CLIMP and Cellular Pathology departments to ensure timely, responsive and reliable imaging and tissue support for all Oncology and Haematology patients recruited into Clinical Trials. Within Imaging they will work to ensure all modalities are aware of trial requirements and work with Sponsors, CRO and vendors to ensure images are appropriately shared. The successful applicant will be adept at working autonomously, with an innovative outlook and keen, problem solving mindset.

You will receive support from the management team at OHCT as well as the wider directorate. There will be a comprehensive induction package and the opportunity to really develop yourself in a patient focused, quality driven, cutting edge service.

Main duties of the job

  • To act as the key communication link between Oncology and Haematology Clinical Trials, Cellular Pathology and Imaging departments, including interventional radiology, to ensure all imaging and subsequent tissue collection is performed in line with the relevant Clinical Trial Protocol
  • To act as the first line contact for any research company wanting imaging and tissue collection as part of a research study
  • To manage the Imaging and tissue collection set up of new clinical trials, facilitating regulatory submissions, liaising with individual modality superintendents to assess capacity & capabilities for new trials and ensuring all applications are signed off by the R&D Theme Lead
  • To liaise with all clinical teams and trial sponsors to develop robust systems to ensure the timely, accurate and confidential collection, archiving and, where appropriate, transfer of trial imaging data
  • Develop and implement quality assurance mechanisms
  • Act as a resource for research staff concerning protocol related imaging and tissue collection matters
  • Assist with the set up and implementation of appropriate IT systems in support of the research processes and trials, in conjunction with local Trust IT departments and the research sponsors
  • To complete technical assessments and disseminate to Trial sponsors within tight timelines
  • To coordinate the monthly OHCT R&D meeting

About us

The Oncology and Haematology Clinical Trials (OHCT) team is made up of 60+ staff members consisting of Research Nurses, Clinical Trial Practitioners, and the Management & Support Team at Guys' and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

We work closely with the Kings Health Partners and the oncology and haematology medical teams to recruit patients to our trials and to ensure patients are monitored closely throughout.

We have a large portfolio of Phase II and III trials; which are split into teams for specific tumour groups. We also have a team dedicated to early phase trials and run weekly early phase clinics in the Clinical Research Facility.

We attract commercial and non-commercial trials, ranging from interventional drug or radiotherapy trials to observational studies.
