Reporting to the hospital directors, the role will co-develop strategic workforce plans to support the overall vision for Critical Care and provide operational leadership for a portfolio of strategic education and workforce projects and transformation schemes.
To work with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to develop/ review and audit against Critical Care Policies and Guidelines.
The post holder will be responsible for managing, as well as the delivery and retention of a safe, effective, sustainable and affordable, highly skilled workforce.
To participate in the RBH senior nurse on-call rota (1:8 week)
Main duties of the job
Lead in the development and implementation and delivery of an AICU nursing service as a workforce strategy to continually improve quality across the Trust.
Undertake the team's yearly PDR's and managing sickness/absence within the team according to the Trust Policy,
Monitor and ensure that all team members' Mandatory training is up to date.
Organise regular team meetings for the Team and ensure that any require information is disseminated in a timely manner.
Manage team members under the Trust disciplinary policy if required: escalating to Clinical Lead, Senior Matron or Director as appropriate
Ensure that the Health Roster is completed to maintain service provision, ensuring that the rotas produced, are safe, efficient, fair and follow the existing trust roster policy.
Act as a point of contact and support for all staff working in AICU.

Responsible for leading the development and implementation of a workforce strategy to achieve the future care models and advances in clinical practice.
Contribute to components of the MSc Advanced Critical Care Practice with the most appropriate Higher Education Institution (HEI)
To lead on workforce planning and provide expertise to create a new MDT workforce model which is sustainable, resilient, agile and robust for the future of critical care units, which is affordable. The role will take into account staffing projections based on growth, the impact of specified interventions and transformation initiatives.
Align workforce demand and requirements to the critical care clinical strategy and care models. This will articulate the demand/capacity requirements and associated workforce transformation plans.
Scope the education and development investment required for the proposed workforce models and new roles and engage with the corporate workforce and education team on education commissioning plans to secure recruitment pipeline.
Evaluation of the cost effectiveness of new workforce improvement and interventions.
To support the Directors to undertake annual workforce establishment reviews, making recommendations for any changes required.
Work in collaboration with the Clinical Group Directors in the business planning process ensuring that future workforce and education and training needs are developed.
