Job summary

  • To lead, implement, and act as the single Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) expert on all objectives within the Connecting with nature strategic theme (part of the Sustainability strategy)
  • To operate across and develop a profile across the South East London ICS and in external professional sustainability circles to promote the APC as exemplar in best practice
  • To provide specialist knowledge and advice on Connecting with nature strategic theme development and implementation across the whole range of APC clinical and non-clinical activity
  • To revitalise, promote and encourage the sustainability champions network
  • To develop Action Plans for Connecting with nature
  • To influence the organisation and its behaviour by driving forward it's compliance with environmental legislation, best practice and cutting edge leadership in all aspects of environmental sustainability
  • To embed sustainable principles and methodologies of innovation in to the investment decision making process of the APC
  • To act as an ambassador for the APC on the environmental sustainability agenda

  • Oversee communications and engagement in environmental sustainability including managing network of champions

About us

The Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) work within an Integrated Care System (ICS) called Our Healthier South East London - https://www.ourhealthiersel.nhs.uk/.

The Environment Manager role will sit within the Essentia Directorate of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) but the role will work across all APC partner Trusts as follows:

  • Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust
  • King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust

Essentia is responsible for non-clinical healthcare services. Essentia designs, builds and maintains healthcare infrastructure vital to the smooth running of healthcare services across the APC. This encompasses everything from construction projects and healthcare planning to waste management, IT, housekeeping, transport and security. Essentia employs around 1,800 people.
