Job summary

An exciting new position within Guy's Cancer Academy.

We are looking for a talented online education copywriter editor to join the team creating educational and social content across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will have working experience of writing and editing copy for a variety of resources, including marketing and educational materials.

Main duties of the job

  1. Write and create learning content for online resources, courses and programmes to support the delivery of Guy's Cancer Academy's strategic objectives, and those of the Cancer and Surgery Clinical Group.
  2. Curate and write content for the Guy's Cancer Academy website and social channels.
  3. Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and clinicians to understand their key messages and work through complex, and often sensitive, concepts to understand key messages or learning points.
  4. Produce and maintain project plans that deliver agreed resources and provide regular progress updates and highlight risks or potential delays.
  5. Frequently attend conferences and training to maintain and develop knowledge in a range of areas, including: VR/AR platforms, and new asynchronous and synchronous platforms.

Guy's Cancer Academy launched in February 2019 and provides education and training on every aspect of cancer care to both healthcare professionals and patients.

Our multidisciplinary team designs, develops and facilitates online training, masterclasses, conferences, preceptorship programmes, and university-accredited courses.

Guy's Cancer Academy has rapidly established itself as a leader in delivering high-quality online cancer education and training within the NHS. This role is based within our Learning Laboratory and aims to significantly increase our capacity for content production and innovation.

1.2 Design and create learning activities for online courses to create high-quality resources using tools like: H5P, Affinity Designer, Da Vinci resolve, Rise, Vyond.

1.3 Support the management and maintenance of Guys Cancer Academys existing online learning resources and learning platform.

1.4 Support the filming of complex procedures and scenarios in clinical settings.

External communications content

2.1Edit online content for Guys Cancer Academys website and social channels to ensure consistency, tone of voice, and compliance with the Learning Laboratory language style and brand guidelines.

Communication

3.1Work with others to bring together multiple concepts and consider the various options for structuring and designing, taking into account the audience, subject matter and outcomes.

3.3 Present complex, sensitive or contentious information, which is difficult to explain through appropriate and expert use of videos, animation, and other media. Use persuasion and tact to judge best options and facilitate decision making.

3.4 Support interviews and small group workshops (usually between 520 people) to learn more about complex topics, which you are unlikely to know much about, to gain stakeholder feedback.

3.5 Take a learner-centric perspective to consider what the target learner will be able to understand.

3.6 Act as an advocate for the organisations tone of voice and style guidelines.

4.1Oversee, train and supervise freelancers who will support filming and editing on specific projects.

5.1Regularly undertake research and development activity and contribute to a programme of R&D within the Learning Lab to explore novel edtech applications
