Job summary

The Payroll & Pensions Team is part of the People Operations team within the People Directorate. As well as providing a full in house operational payroll and pension service for the organisation, it also provides payroll services externally. Reporting to the Head of Payroll and Pensions for this large complex organisation, the Deputy Head of Payroll and Pensions will provide leadership and operational expertise in the delivery of a highly responsive, professional and flexible payroll service; ensuring that appropriate processes, controls, and validation checks are in place to maximise compliance and service efficiency.

Main duties of the job

Role modelling excellent customer service and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, the post holder will have line manager responsibility for the payroll, pension and employee services team managers.

Supporting the strategic leadership of the Payroll and Pensions function, the post holder will also ensure that the service is compliant with statutory regulations and Trust audit requirements, quality standards, internal and external performance indicators and financial standards. The post holder will also be involved in the negotiation of service level agreements with internal and external service users and will work in partnership with key stakeholders and other NHS organisations to ensure the service delivers maximum value to customers and stakeholders
