Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Nightingale Ward for a Senior Staff Nurse position. The successful candidate will work alongside the Ward Manager to support the Nursing team to provide the highest quality care for our patients.

Nightingale is a 28 bedded GI and emergency general surgical ward, providing care for acute emergency patients as well us Upper GI and Colorectal specialist surgeries and Gastro in-patients. Caring for our specialist patients will give the successful candidate the opportunity to develop a wide variety of clinical knowledge & skills. We will support this development by sending you on study days such as Pain & Epidural Training & ILS.

We are a short stay, fast turn over surgical ward that offers an Enhanced Recovery Pathway & Short Stay Surgical service within the ward environment.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Staff Nurse you will be working closely with the Sister and senior team. You will be expected to undertake managerial duties and support all members of the team. You will be given appropriate training and support to enable you to do this role.

The role will encompass specific responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care and expertise within the clinical area. To help lead and coordinate the clinical, managerial and educational requirements of the clinical area ensuring the highest standards of nursing practice and care are delivered as reflected by the unit philosophy. Ensuring the safety and well being of services users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centered care principles.
