Job summary
The Nurse Adviser will provide high quality nursing support to the occupational health team. The role will include pre-commencement and immunity screening, provision of an immunisation service, body fluid exposure assessment and management, infection control management, supporting and promoting the Trust health and wellbeing programme by organising and attending health promotion events and support of the annual staff flu programme. The Nurse Adviser will play a key role in the efficient day to day activities of the service and will interact with a multi-disciplinary team in a very busy clinical department, often dealing with highly sensitive and confidential cases.

Main duties of the role:
Playing a key role in the day to day operational delivery of occupational health services to the Trust and commercial service users, ensuring high standards of service delivery and quality standards are met, including:
- Pre-commencement and immunity screening
- Provision of an immunisation service
- Management of body fluid exposures
- Infection prevention and control advice to staff
- Supporting and promoting the Trust health & wellbeing programme

To work flexibly under the direction of the occupational health nurse (OHN) / senior occupational nurse (SOHN) and public health nurse manager within a multidisciplinary occupational health team to provide a smooth and effective running of the OHS
To recognise own limitations and the need for support from the multidisciplinary team when dealing with issues beyond current sphere of knowledge
To maintain and facilitate a client centred approach to providing holistic health care and advice in line with local and Trust protocols & procedures
To undertake clinical practice and provide advice in accordance with Trust and departmental protocols and policies
To provide continuity of care to clients throughout their contact with the OHS whenever possible
To maintain good working relationships and effective communication with clients, colleagues, managers and other professionals across the Trust and external organisations
