Job summary

An exciting role for a Data Manager has been created at the Unit for Paediatric & Population-Based Dermatology Research, St John's Institute of Dermatology, within Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) and King's College London.

St John's Institute of Dermatology Europe's leading clinical and research centre for skin diseases.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and quality-focused individual with excellent communication and time management skills, who will work well as part of the Atopic eczema Systemic Therapy Register (A-STAR) team.

A-STAR is a flagship national register of atopic eczema systemic therapy patients supported by the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) and has already set up 30 centres across England, Wales and Scotland, with an expansion to other sites planned. We are also leading an international consortium of atopic dermatitis systemic therapy registers (DREAM TO TREAT AD), which is linking up A-STAR with registers in Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands and Ireland.

Main duties of the job

As part of the St John's Institute of Dermatology Research Unit you will act as data manager for A-STAR and other innovative clinical research studies, examining novel methods of prevention and treatment of skin diseases.

You will be passionate about the research we support, motivated to deliver high quality research and committed to working in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.

Experience of working in a team, providing specifications to build electronic case report forms (eCRFs), understanding eCRF data extracts, checking data for integrity and correctness, and documenting data management procedures are essential, along with a thorough understanding of clinical study designs and phases.

You will have excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and work flexibly across different projects to meet deadlines. Experience of acting as data lead within the clinical team is essential.

Ideally you will have experience of training team members in data management processes.

The Unit for Paediatric and Population-Based Dermatology Research at St John's Institute of Dermatology is the A-STAR and DREAM TO TREAT AD Coordinating Centre (Chief Investigator: Professor Carsten Flohr, Chair in Dermatology and Population Health Science at King's College London). The department consists of multidisciplinary team of clinicians, research nurses, clinical research practitioners, scientists and administrative staff.

  • A good understanding of various clinical study designs and phases
  • Extensive experience in using eCRFs and understanding their extracted data

  • Previous experience creating training guides for junior staff
  • Previous experience in the generation of finance reports and finance forecasts
