Job summary
Following on from retirement of the previous post holder we are delighted to advertise the post of Lead Nurse for STRS and Advanced Clinical practice for cardio-respiratory and intensive care. The post holder will provide ACP leadership, expert clinical nursing advice and management support to the service, our advanced clinical practitioners within the directorate and the district general hospitals with whom we work in partnership.
The post holder will provide leadership, expert clinical nursing advice and management support for STRS and ACP, working in partnership with the Lead Consultant for STRS, the Band 7 Nurse Lead, other transport teams, the ambulance provider, PCC, Head of Nursing, Clinical Director and General manager to continually improve and develop successful network services and lead the ACP workforce, aligning with the Trust strategic agenda, local, regional and national specialist network agendas and DH agenda for Paediatric Critical Care.
The Lead Nurse will work collaboratively with the Head of Nursing team to direct nursing workforce plans for the service, providing managerial support and deputising as required. They will work collaboratively with the Clinical Director and Head of Service to build on the clinical and business success of the service, extending reputation and capacity to contribute to the corporate success of the Trust.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide expert nursing advice and leadership for the Trust and will undertake relevant projects within the Trust, the networks, representing nursing in the area of speciality for the organisation.
The post holder will lead on risk management, patient safety and clinical governance issues within STRS in collaboration with the Evelina Lead for Quality and Safety interfacing into the Trust patient safety strategy, ensuring that patients are actively involved in the development of services and the monitoring of quality.
The post holder will identify areas for service improvement through the use of a working knowledge of improvement methodologies and to prepare business cases for change where appropriate.
The post-holder will work collaboratively with the Head of Nursing, Head of Service and Clinical Director to lead service development aimed at improving quality including patient and family experience of specialist care, concentrating on delivering a holistic and family centred approach.

Safe provision and development of the South Thames Retrieval Service, (STRS) within the southeast network. Ensuring the smooth running of the service, overseeing the upkeep of transportequipment, day to day running of the PICU emergency ambulance contract. Advocate for thisservice provision locally, nationally and internationally benchmark against other service providers.
The post holder will provide leadership, expert clinical nursing advice and management support (coordination, audit, information and education) for STRS and ACP.
