Job summary

We are currently looking for highly motivated individuals with relevant clinical experience to join our team at the Children's Sleep & Respiratory Centre.

The Children's Sleep and Respiratory Centre is an internationally respected quaternary centre of excellence for the comprehensive investigation and treatment of sleep and respiratory disorders in infants and children. We have 5 dedicated sleep beds and two fully equipped respiratory assessment rooms. Across the service we use innovative approaches and equipment to maintain excellent patient experience for our paediatric population. This includes domiciliary sleep studies, mobile respiratory assessment, ward testing and a home spirometry service. We regularly present at international conferences and are a research active department.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will spend time in both sleep and respiratory assessment, offering an exciting opportunity to develop advanced skills and knowledge in both clinical areas. The successful candidate will therefore gain training and experience in a wide range of sleep and respiratory investigations including overnight oximetry and overnight carbon dioxide monitoring, actigraphy, respiratory polygraphy, full polysomnography, spirometry, FeNO, forced oscillation technique, skin prick testing, exhaled CO, sniff nasal inspiratory pressure measurements, transfer factor, lung volumes and bronchodilator reversibility assessments. They will also assist with more specialised measurements such as multiple sleep latency testing and combined sleep/telemetry studies, hypoxic challenge, structural light plethysmography and CPET. Attending and analysing overnight sleep studies is an essential part of this role, shifts therefore include a combination of 9am-5pm, 8.30am - 4.30pm, 12.30pm-8.30pm and 8pm-8am, and approximately 20 - 30% of duties are worked outside normal hours (WONH). Applicants should possess a BSc in clinical physiology, PTP or relevant science degree, some relevant work experience and a desire to work in sleep/respiratory physiology with children, as demonstrated by well written supporting information within the application. BRPT/ ARTP qualifications are desirable but not essential. A personalised training program will be designed and agreed during induction.
