Job summary
The Deputy Chief Nursing Officer will be an inspiring and compassionate nurse leader with extensive experience at either Director or Deputy Director level and have experience of supporting and deputising at executive and Board level roles.
The Deputy Chief Nursing Officer will be highly organised, collaborative and focused on the delivery of high, quality safe, effective care and optimal outcomes for every patient in every area of the Trust.
You will be required to work with a wide and varied range of stakeholders and must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to communicate with, relate to and engage with, a wide spectrum of NHS employees.
A passion to develop and transform safe innovative clinical services in the urgent and emergency / pre hospital setting such as 999, 111 and out of hours care, as well as a commitment to developing a safety culture for all is essential, but will be rewarded with career development, support and coaching and a real chance to make a difference for our patients and staff at SCAS.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy Chief Nursing Officer reports to and is accountabletotheChiefNursing Officer,workingcloselywiththeChiefMedicalOfficerandother members of the Executive Team.
The Deputy Chief Nursing Officer will be responsible for the consistent delivery of high quality safe, effective care, an excellent experience and optimal outcomes for every patient in every area of the Trust.
On behalf of the Chief Nursing Officer, lead the development of an integrated Safeguarding Service by directing the Associate Director of Safeguarding to deliver a safe and effective service.
On behalf of the Chief Nursing Officer, provide strategic leadership to the professional educational agenda of Paramedics, Nurses and Allied Health Professional roles and support the development of a research agenda.
On behalf of the Chief Nursing Officer, provide strategic leadership to the governance support service.
Responsible for oversight of the Trust Quality and Safety Strategy and associated frameworks that ensure clinical governance is multi-disciplinary, locally owned and provides assurance that patient care is safe and effective, with a system that provides frontline to Board reporting.
