Job summary
As a Specialist Nurse your role is to provide care, advice and education to patients, families and fellow practitioners within a specialist area of nursing.
This is a broad and multifaceted role requiring a blend of clinical expertise, management skills and leadership abilities to deliver high quality nursing care. In collaboration with the wider healthcare team, you will help to formulate treatment plans and evaluate patient progress regularly.
Sharing your findings and recommendations with the team is part of your duty and this ensures patient constantly receive the best possible care.
- Work collaboratively to influence and drive the development of the service.
- Provide high quality person centered care which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity using your clinical knowledge that is evidence based.
- Undertake assessment and management of service users to incorporate pharmacological considerations, where appropriate making clinical decisions regarding service user management and clinical outcomes
Main duties of the job
- Provide high quality clinical practice. Be proactive in clinical decision making, underpinned by theoretical and practical knowledge and be able to demonstrate improved patient care outcome
- Be aware of, and act in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Undertake holistic assessment of patients and carers needs. This will involve planning, implementing and evaluating the care delivery according to changing healthcare.
- Utilise clinical skills in assessment and or formulating a plan of care
- Work within own scope of practice and in collaboration with the multi-professional team to instigate, evaluate and modify a range of diagnostic testing /interventions (service specific).
- Demonstrate sound knowledge in relation to pattern of disease or disorder (service specific), markers of condition progression and range of treatment available at each stage of disorder or condition.
- To work collaboratively utilising history taking and examination skills within multidisciplinary team, guidelines and protocols.
- Be able to assess and re-evaluate the clinical situation as the patient's condition changes.
- Anticipate likely potential physical and psychological problems caused either by the condition or by treatment
