The Royal Berkshire Pharmacy department is passionate about developing an excellent clinical pharmacy service and is looking for enthusiastic, innovative and self-motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team.

Due to recent developments and advancements with investment into our Clinical Pharmacy Services, we are recruiting a Medicines Management and Medicines Value Pharmacy Technician at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for aspirational, enthusiastic, self-motivated and compassionate individuals to develop and advance their careers within clinical patient-facing roles.

Main duties of the job

You will be professionally registered Pharmacy Technician, organised, resourceful, have excellent time management skills and be able to demonstrate initiative to contribute to our rapidly growing team.

We welcome applications from community or candidates from other sectors of Pharmacy seeking new experiences or are keen to develop their skills in a different area of practice.

Existing Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technicians and Medicines Management trained candidates are also welcome to apply; possession of these post qualification courses is desirable.

We will provide full training and access to accredited courses that are approved against national frameworks.

You will work as part of our medicines management and value team to:

  • Support the delivery of high-cost drug and biosimilar switch programmes.
  • Maintain accurate switch tracking spreadsheets and databases.
  • Respond to queries through the biosimilar patient helpline and inbox (within defined protocols, escalating where needed).
  • Assist with data collection for audits, assurance returns, and governance reports.
  • Contribute to medicines reconciliation, discharge support, and patient counselling.
  • Promote safe and cost-effective prescribing, reducing waste and improving outcomes.

  • NVQ level 3 Pharmacy services & appropriate underpinning knowledge
  • Professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Desirable

  • Practice Supervisor accreditation (or equivalent)
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician
  • Accredited Medicines Optimisation qualifications

Experience

Essential

  • Experience or awareness of ward based or medicines management pharmacy technician roles.
