Senior Physiotherapy Assistant - MSK Outpatients and Orthopaedics

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to come and join our team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. We are looking to employ a dynamic, confident, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Therapies team as a Senior Physiotherapy Assistant supporting the MSK Outpatients team and the Orthopaedics inpatient team.

In this role you work closely with patients, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, undertaking an array of responsibilities and tasks to support the smooth running of the Therapies service.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the efficient, effective and safe management of patients being treated as delegated by the Physiotherapist whilst being proactive in independently supporting routine patients deemed appropriate by qualified Therapy staff.
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care. To ensure a high standard of clinical practice for patients under your care.
  • To follow Trust and departmental procedures, policy, guidance and pathways where they exist.
  • To manage patient in an efficient and safe manner, reporting results and problems identified accurately back to supervising Physiotherapist.
  • Be aware of clinical risk within own clinical caseload, and seek advice from Physiotherapist to ensure that clinical risk is effectively identified and managed.
  • Under direction deliver a physiotherapy treatment programme either with individual or in a group setting.
  • To have knowledge of a range of manual handling and mobility skills relevant to the management of patients, including safe use of transfer equipment.
  • To assist in providing effective discharge planning within the team, liaising with other members of the MDT as appropriate.
  • Support the development of junior Physiotherapy Assistants.
