Fire Safety Advisor

Job summary

We are looking for a committed individual to fulfil the duties of a Fire Safety Advisor for Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS FoundationTrust (RBFT), in accordance with RBFT Fire Safety Policy. This includes liaison with outside professionalbodies, including, but not limited to: local Fire Authorities, Council Building Control, Architects, DesignTeams, Building Inspectors and Local Fire and Rescue Service Operational Crews, Inspectors and theAuthorising Engineer (Fire).

The post holder will lead strategic development fire safety program of work, delivered by the EstatesDepartment through maintenance activities and capital investment. This will include a rolling 5 yearinvestment strategy, to ensure continuous improvement of compliance, demonstrated through KPI andSLAP reporting packs aligned with HTM05 guidance and HBN and regulatory guidance standards.

Main duties of the job

Primary responsibilities:1. Develop, monitor, maintain and report on RBFT's fire safety and compliance strategy, makingrecommendations for managing related risk and for a prioritised investment strategy.2. Develop and maintain RBFT's Fire Safety Policy, Code of Practice and operating procedures.3. Implement a program of routine auditing to report on Fire Safety standards at RBFT.4. Implement annual Fire Risk Assessments, developing appropriate remedial actions and strategiesfor compliance.5. Support RBFT department leads with developing and maintaining Local Evacuation andEmergency Plans (LEEPs), with the associated evacuation training and recordsetc

Essential

  • Member of IFSM or IFE
  • Level 4 (HNC) qualification in a Fire Safety
  • Level 4 qualification is other than Fire, (i.e. engineering or construction), a Fire Safety qualification such as NEBOSH (Level3)

Desirable

  • Nebosh of Level 3 in FIre safety

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a fire safety role within Healthcare or a similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of fire safety regulations (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, HTM05)

Desirable

  • Experience in fire safety management within Healthcare settings
