**This is a fixed-term/secondment opportunity for 12 months to cover maternity leave. **

This vacancy offers a genuinely exciting opportunity to join the leadership team of a highly performing and well regarded team, the Trauma and Orthopaedics service at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The Service Manager plays an essential role in the leadership of the service, helping to shape the direction of the service and ensuring its smooth operation on a day-to-day basis.

You will take on the leadership of a mature, experienced Clinical Administration Team (CAT) and have a real opportunity to improve the care received by our patients.

The role would be well suited to an ambitious, driven candidate who is looking for an opportunity to develop their skills in operational and strategic management.

Main duties of the job

As the Service Manager for Trauma and Orthopaedics, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Directorate Manager to ensure the smooth operation of all aspects of the Trauma and Orthopaedic service.
  • Leading forward planning for the service, including ensuring that theatre lists and clinics are well organised and well utilised, and leading improvement work in this area.
  • Delivering insights and recommendations into the future planning and strategy of the service, undertaking data analysis and working with the leadership team to explore how this can inform effective service operation.
  • Leading the Clinical Administration Team, fostering a positive, collaborative culture and ensuring good outcomes and working practices.
  • Acting as a core member of the Trauma and Orthopaedic management team, representing the service both internally and externally and deputising for the Directorate Manager where required.
