Band 3 Senior Healthcare Assistant (Adelaide Ward)

We are looking for a senior healthcare assistant to join our friendly and committed team.

Adelaide is a 22 bedded ward caring for oncology and haematology patients.

We care for patients receiving acute management of their cancer through to those who are receiving end of life care.

There are lots of opportunities to develop and practice clinical skills and we actively encourage healthcare assistants to work to their full potential.

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, kind and hardworking.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job:

  • Involved in direct patient care, aiding with activities of daily living such as washing, dressing, meal times, mouth care, etc.
  • Taking and recording of patients observations, including vital signs, blood sugars, fluid measurement.
  • Aiding in mobility and rehabilitation.
  • Caring for patients and families who are at the end of their life, providing comfort and support.
  • Assisting the nursing staff in maintaining patients pressure areas.
  • Escorting patients for procedures or scans.
  • Work effectively within a team in order to ensure the best outcome for the patients.

  • Successful completion of Trust's Band 2 Developmental Passport or ability to demonstrate equivalent level of competence

Desirable

  • NVQ / QCF level 3 in Health or Health and Social Care

Experience

  • Experience as Healthcare Assistant within an acute hospital environment or equivalent setting

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working within relevant specialty
