Reporting to the Charity Director, the post holder will play a leading role in building an active profile for the Royal Berks Charity as an excellent partner for local businesses, major donors and benefactors. Managing an existing portfolio of partnerships and proactively approaching new supporters to deliver our long-term strategies for growth in income.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a year-on-year strategy which supports the overarching 2024 - 2028 Charity strategy, maximising income and delivering excellent cost ratios for corporate partnerships, major gifts and legacy giving.

With experience in building and maintaining relationships that foster onward referral, unlock connections and leverage networks to increase their philanthropic impact, the Fundraising Manager will research, initiate and develop longer term relationships with local businesses and high net worth individuals to identify the best prospects for securing financial and 'in-kind' support.

As a senior external ambassador representing Royal Berks Charity at the highest levels you will have experience of successful networking with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate with people to motivate and inspire support, positioning the charity as a 'go-to' impact-driven organisation.

The Fundraising Manager will develop comprehensive fundraising proposals, with budgets, costings and timetables that support engaging fundraising campaigns and events and be able to efficiently and effectively organise and deliver events that engage their audience.

Meticulous attention to detail is needed to ensure all supporter communication and actions are entered onto our CRM and regularly analyse the data to ensure all opportunities to engage donors and prospects are utilised.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS

Research, initiate and develop long term relationships with local businesses and local branches of national companies to identify the best prospects for securing financial and in kind support.

Design a range of sponsorship packages that will engage and attract local businesses (or local branches of national companies) and will be mutually beneficial through greater profile for both parties

Lead, promote and co-ordinate company staff fundraising events and activities, ensuring that these are well planned, marketed and supported and that sponsorship funds are processed effectively. This will require effective communications with the key relationship partner in any committed corporate relationship

Ensure that any major activities or longer-term relationships are properly agreed with appropriate memorandum of understanding or written agreement with provisions to terminate. Any joint promotional activity must be agreed and signed off by the Charity Director

Seek opportunities to give regular talks and presentations to local businesses and other commercial organisations to help increase support for the charity

Ensure there is a clear policy with regard to the respectability and ethical dimensions of any prospective corporate partners, and to seek advice from the Charity Director prior to entering into any discussions or agreements.

Ensure there are no conflicts of interest or situations where a company may be expecting preferential commercial advantage from a relationship, especially with regard to supply of goods and services to the charity or parent NHS Trust. Have the self-confidence to reject offers of support if they are likely to compromise the charity or parent hospital.

Ensure accurate and up-to-date supporter records are maintained and accessible, particularly with regard to inputting onto the donor activity database (Harlequin).

To actively build a growing portfolio of donors and prospects with the capacity and propensity to forge meaningful partnerships with Royal Berks Charity through the giving of substantial gifts

To build powerful relationships with influential individuals that can foster onward referral, unlock connections and leverage networks to increase philanthropic impact and develop an effective pool of ambassadors and advocates to act on our behalf.

Provide briefings for Royal Berks Charity representatives involved in meetings or events with major donors. Work with colleagues, Trustees and supporters to facilitate secure personal introductions and meetings with prospects.

Identify and manage the co-ordination of acknowledgment and recognition opportunities.

Be a senior external ambassador, networking and representing RBC at the highest levels to position the charity as a go-to impact-driven organisation.

Working with the Charity Director, identify suitable projects agreed with internal stakeholders to build cases for support and wish lists for new and existing donors. With the Charity Communications and Marketing Leadcreate tailored presentation materials to evidence the need.

Monitor project progress and facilitate donor visits and ensure personal, timely reports are sent to donors to evidence the impact.

Manage major donor cultivation events to lift the profile of the charity with the support of the Charity Director, Trustees and senior clinical staff.

Keep meticulous records on the database of all actions and communications.
