This is a fixed-term post for 3 years.

The Berkshire Cancer Centre and the Royal Berkshire NHS FT are searching for a very senior Nurse Consultant to strategically develop, clinically manage and co-lead our genomics service.

This is a new role which has been developed in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Care and is unique in the UK.

This full-time 8C post is pivotal to the continued development of our genomics service to meet the needs of our population over the next 5-10 years.

We are looking to employ a senior, experienced specialist nurse with a keen and proven interest in genomics and a record of leadership, change management and innovation to work alongside our medical genomics lead for the Trust.

The post-holder will take a strategic lead in developing and expanding our genomics and immunotherapy services, not solely in oncology, but across all specialities as well as liaising with important stakeholders inside and outside of the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve independent autonomous clinical practice within oncology with oversight of a patient caseload in immunotherapy and genomics.

We will need to develop and expand nurse-led working in this field with a focus on developing services for patients undergoing genetic testing and having tailored, personalised treatment regimes.

We will also need to develop programmes to educate clinical staff delivering care for this expanding client group.

The Berkshire Cancer Centre has a strong clinical management team and we are committed to supporting the successful applicant to develop the role into one of national significance.

We are accredited by CHKS across the entire department, score highly on staff engagement metrics, invest heavily into staff development and have embraced several innovative roles, such as this, to meet the increasing demand due to technological advances.

We would welcome informal visits from interested candidates.
