**Full Time & Part Time**
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated professional to join our pre-operative assessment team.
Working alongside our experienced nurses and anaesthetists you will be a key team member supporting the trust's elective recovery and a pivotal driving force in optimising patients before their surgical procedures.
As a band 5 staff nurse, we will support you to gain an exemplary level of expertise in the pre-operative specialty managing a case load of patients within General Surgery, Breast, Urology, Angio and Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Our commitment to both you and our patients is on a first class level with development opportunities that will support your surgical expertise and fulfil the requirements of NMC revalidation.
This includes: a comprehensive induction programme, an established competency portfolio, in-house training schedule and support to undertake the 'Clinical Reasoning' University module.
Main duties of the job
This post would ideally suit a nurse keen to develop their professional profile someone who recognises opportunities for improvements and is a motivator to drive forward changes within the unit.
A dynamic and enthusiastic nurse with the ambition to succeed, willingness to learn and ability to work with the whole team in support of the senior sister to lead the department into the future.
We are looking for a nurse who understands the impact that a good experience within our department can have on a patient's health journey and is keen to ensure this is delivered to every patient using the service.
A nurse keen to develop their assessment skills, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and motivated to develop skills and training appropriate to the role would be an ideal candidate for this post.

About us
The Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) pre-operative assessment unit is currently located within the Berkshire Independent Hospital in Coley, Reading. The temporary move to this location follows an agreement for significant investment in the pre-operative estate which is currently in the planning phases to provide a bespoke unit on the RBH site. Alongside this significant investment there has been a successful business case to increase the number of pre-operative nurses to support the surgical workflow.
