About us
The department of obstetrics and gynaecology at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust aims to be a leader in its field.
We provide maternity services for around 4800 women each year and have a good track record for delivering high quality safe care. We have a 'learning focused' culture, and a newly established, clinically-led multidisciplinary senior leadership team. In addition to routine antenatal care provided by our community midwifery team, we offer a range of specialist antenatal services supported by specialist midwives, obstetricians and medical specialists.
Our gynaecology service runs 13 operating lists a week in addition to running general and specialty outpatient clinics; including early pregnancy, urogynaecology, gynae cancer, and fertility.
Our sonography department focuses purely on obs and gynae (although there is the opportunity to work across additional areas with main radiology). We have a dedicated team of 8 WTE sonographers and a close working relationship with colleagues in Fetal Medicine.
We have many opportunities for development and have strong links with Reading University.
The Trust is based in Reading, which sits on the river Thames, and is served by great road and rail links to London, Oxford and Southampton. With excellent leisure and shopping facilities, and a thriving cultural scene, Reading is a wonderful place to live and work.
The CQC recently rated the care provided by the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust as Good.
